As you step off the tarmac and exchange warm smiles with your guide, the unique atmosphere of Djanet will envelop you. Settle into your camp or hotel, savoring the change of scenery, and prepare for the unforgettable Saharan adventure that awaits on this first night

Fuel up for adventure with breakfast before your guide outlines the week's exciting itinerary and the camel trek. Witness the intriguing "Crying Cow" rock formation near the airport before tackling administrative formalities in Djanet. Embrace the Saharan spirit by acquiring and learning to wear a chèche, followed by a delightful traditional lunch. The afternoon unfolds with a scenic 4x4 drive to the enchanting Essendilene Valley. Here, meet your camel team, load your belongings, and embark on a captivating camel trek towards the Guelta of Essendilene - a lush oasis nestled amidst towering cliffs.
As the sun dips below the horizon, lend a helping hand with camp setup or simply unwind with a steaming cup of tea, savoring the camaraderie with your Touareg guides amidst the breathtaking desert landscape.

Bid farewell to the enchanting Essendilène canyon as Day 3 unfolds with a camel trek towards Ioulalaten. Your path winds through a captivating tapestry of canyons, cliffs, wadis, and mountains, offering a feast for the eyes at every turn. The aroma of brewing tea soon fills the air, signaling a welcome break near the Touia Canyon. Here, you'll set up camp beside the Guelta de Touia (potentially dry depending on the season) and gather for the traditional tea ceremony.
As twilight paints the sky, savor a delicious dinner while learning about the fascinating symbolism behind Tuareg jewelry from your guide. Later, as a blanket of stars unfolds above, lose yourself in the magic of the desert night, a haven for stargazers and photographers alike.

The caravan sets off again, heading towards the fabulous site of Tikoubaouine, a landscape dotted with sandstone obelisks and arches scattered among the sand dunes. This open-air museum invites visitors to unleash their imagination and interpret the secrets hidden within these stone giants.

Throughout the day, the sand reveals its many shades, from golden russet to ash blonde, captivating the eyes and soothing the soul. These vast expanses inspire a sense of tranquility and encourage you to simply be present, in the here and now.

As the sun begins to set, you reach the bivouac site at Tilalen, a continuation of Tikoubaouine with its sandstone arches and fantastical rock formations. Along the way, you'll discover traces of the past in the form of prehistoric rock paintings.

Dating back to the Neolithic period, these ancient markings spark curiosity about the evolution of this seemingly desolate landscape. In fact, the area east of Djanet boasts over 5,000 documented rock engravings, first rediscovered in 1934. The oldest of these are believed to date back to a flourishing period before the desert took hold, approximately 12,000 years ago.

Day 5 dawns with a leisurely morning at the Tilalen bivouac, allowing you to soak up the beauty of the surrounding landscape. After breakfast, embark on a short hike to explore the nearby arches and rock formations.

In the afternoon, enjoy a camel ride through the dunes, taking in the panoramic views of the desert. As the sun sets, return to the bivouac for a relaxing evening with your fellow travelers.

Brace yourself for a captivating morning as you navigate natural corridors and labyrinthine rock formations on your trek from Tilalen to Taloutadjart. Follow your guide closely through this ever-changing maze, where the path seems to vanish as quickly as it appears. Upon reaching Taloutadjart, prepare to be awestruck by the presence of ancient rock paintings, whispering stories of a bygone era. The afternoon unfolds with a delightful routine of setting up camp and learning the art of preparing the traditional chorba, a hearty soup that becomes your nightly prelude. As twilight paints the desert canvas, savor a delicious meal under a canopy of stars, perhaps with the soulful melodies of Touareg music filling the air (availability permitting). Embrace the serenity of the desert night and lose yourself in the magic of the firmament, concluding a truly unforgettable day.

Embark on a captivating journey today as your caravan traverses lunar landscapes on the way from Taloutadjart to In Aramas. Marvel at the sight of sunken cirques swallowed by sand and verdant mountain passes teeming with life that has escaped the grazing camels. As you wind your way through this natural labyrinth, keep your eyes peeled for the awe-inspiring Tassili N'Ajjer plateau stretching out before you. Upon reaching In Aramas, set up camp amidst the dunes and delve into the local customs with your guide. Tonight, if the stars align and the chef is in the mood, witness the fascinating preparation of Taguella, a traditional flatbread baked directly in the sand, adding another layer of cultural immersion to this extraordinary day.

Embark on a gentle trek, your final hurrah in the desert, as you journey from In Aramas to Iharadj, where your trusty 4x4 vehicles await to transport you back to Djanet. Let your gaze linger on the dramatic black sandstone tassilis that flank your path, a parting gift from the Saharan landscape. Bid a fond farewell to your camel companions before indulging in the long-awaited luxury of a hot shower upon reaching Djanet. The afternoon unfolds with a delightful exploration of Djanet, a charming oasis town where vibrant market gardens flourish amidst the desert sands. Savor a farewell dinner and reminisce about the unforgettable experiences of your desert adventure before your departure, taking with you a treasure trove of memories and a renewed appreciation for the wonders of the Sahara.

Fuel up for your journey home with a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, savoring the memories of this incredible adventure. Check out and settle any remaining bills before enjoying some free time in Djanet (optional). Perhaps do some last-minute shopping at the local markets or explore the town at your own pace. Your guide will ensure a comfortable and timely transfer to Djanet Inedbirene Airport (DJG) for your departing flight. As you bid farewell to your guide and newfound friends, hold close the memories of your unforgettable Saharan adventure.
We wish you a safe and pleasant journey home!
